Well I mange to get a hold of Keith Damron, the writer of Sliders' cliffhanger demise, and we spoke for quite some time about the Sliders' slippery theme and the this last episode. Keith began by explaining how the cliffhanger ending for Sliders came to be. He told me that he asked his boss at that time if he should write a "wrap-up" or a cliffhanger. The response to his question was, "Don't let them end us, write a cliffhanger." So The Seer was given a ending where Rembrandt, the star character of the show, leaps through the "Slider vortex" for what could be the last time but no word is given of his fate. He takes with him the means to destroy the "Kromaggs" those dirty world-snatchers.
When I asked Keith if Rembrandt would live he answered, "I certainly hope so!". Cleavant Derricks Jr., the actor and real life singer who played Rembrandt, was a joy to work with according to Keith. As for the Kromaggs, Keith implied that they would be "sent packing back to their own universe", as was mention in an earlier episode.

Keith explained that there is a magic one hundred episodes for TV shows, of which any show who riches it can be said to have had a very good run. Sliders had reached that one hundred episode mark if not pasted it.
Finally I asked about season five on DVD. Kieth was at a loss to explain why no fifth season was out yet out on DVD, but said that if there was any word of it buzzing around he would know about it.
That's about as much information on the cliffhanger resolution as I thank I'll be able to get. I'll keep my ear to the ground for any novels or other writings that promises to continue the story of Sliders, but till then this is it, unless Kieth Damron contact me again some time.
