Haaammeeeer!!!!

This axe ending is, like the Lexx one, a bit of a misnomer. The cliffhanger was so amusing that the net work let the show go on for another year. But the cliffhanger is still open. You see the creators of the show did not expect that they would be allowed to carry on. They were convinced that "The Spa Who Loved Me" would be the finale of Sledge Hammer. So the joke was sort of on them when Sledge was actually given a renewal, and they had to come up with a resolution to the most imposible cliffhanger imaginable. Their answer was simple, not to. They started season two with the show being put back five years to the first meeting of Sledge and his sexy lady cop partner. So as far as the story of Sledge is concerned, the cliffhanger is still where it ends, but then again sometime the cliffhanger must be the end, if it falls off the cliff!
