Yes there was another ending shot for the finale of Jericho, and it was one that wrapped things up much less neatly then the scene that actually aired. In this ending Hawkins does not escape with the Jake from the ASA troops but is taken prisoner. As he heals in Lumeridge Prison, Colorado, he has a final confrontation with Valente, and get the chance to tell him off. You can see a clip of the alternate ending here.

As for the continuation of the story of Jericho, well the verdict is still out on what's going to happen and how fans well get it, if at all. Wikipidea has a section on the show called post second season. It basically claims that the producer may take the show into the film or TV movie realm if they can not find a new home for the show on some cable specialty network like the Sci Fi Channel. As for what is planned for the shows cliffhanger resolution... Well more info will be coming so check back, but for now click here for a short clip created by a Jericho fan that suggests an ending.

Update;

One of my email correspondences wrote me the following.

"Hi Jim,

Yes I hear on the Jericho line that there may be a film out to tie up loose ends of the 2nd season. I hear that CBS may bring it back as a summer replacement, like burn notice is on USA station does. But that's hear say. I still am hoping like the rest Jericho's Fans that someone will pick it up. Thanks for asking me if I heard anything new."
